Who You Can Be at Nelly’s This Fall

“Toronto’s already ass-deep in cockroaches and conservatives; what’s one more lower life-form?”

– Tanya Huff, “Blood Bank”

If you are playing a new character, you will choose from one of several character groups to begin your character selection process for Nelly’s By Night. Your choice of character group may restrict your choices afterward, but these descriptions will explain how… except in the case of two ‘secret’ groups. These two groups will have to keep some details of their characters quiet until the night of the event. There are varying numbers of character spaces in the all the groups.

You can play characters from:

Nelly’s House

Since there have been Kindred in the city, there has been a “Nelly’s.” Not always in the same place nor with the same people, but Nell has always gathered like minded vampires, beautiful ghouls, and vessels with finely crafted temperaments around her. Along with the blood, some in her house provide the other services one might expect from a house of ill repute, and Nell’s home has always been declared Elysium since the “Circus Riot” – a place where vampires can gather without fear of violence. Now that their location has been compromised and Nell seems to have retired from public life, changes are certain to come in the house and its dynamic.

The Court

The Camarilla used to claim all Kindred who had not otherwise declared themselves as members; now they are the Ivory Tower, the one percent of the one percent. The pillars of the Tower are now Ventrue, Toreador, Tremere, Malkavian, and Nosferatu. Though the Camarilla still holds a massive amount of influence worldwide, an unexplained force has begun to rob the sect of its most ancient rulers, calling them away for unknown purposes. If Toronto’s Prince has succumbed to this ‘Beckoning,’ who might be next? Now that the Council rules the city in the stead of a Prince, the Primogen hold the power – as long as they can work together instead of fighting for the crown.

The 905

The Anarch Revolution exists at the edges of the city proper, what the downtowners sometimes derogatorily call ‘the 905’ (nine-oh-five) – so named for the area code that surrounds Toronto but isn’t quite Toronto. It seemed only right that the Anarchs take on the name. The Anarch Revolt has always existed in the city, somewhat defanged by the Camarilla’s dominance, and its own shifting numbers and constant infighting. Now it is reborn from Hardestadt’s ashes around the world, and with their enemy weakened the time to strike is at hand. Or perhaps not – alliances have continued to shift and some that had declared themselves part of the Revolution now sit at the Council table again.

The Circulatory System

Nell and her ‘family’ are far from the only Kindred to explore the powers in blood and its different tastes and temperaments. While there are any number of rings of vampires exploiting this knowledge for profit and power, the Circulatory System is the largest, spanning the globe. They traffic vessels between domains, tracking the effects of the vintages they move, and they have not yet been much of a presence in Toronto. But chaos is ever an opportunity and they have seized it to explore the possibilities of business in a city where the eldest vampires have controlled it for too long.

The Ministry of Set

Formerly known as the Followers of Set, the Ministry is seen as much cult as clan, adhering to a uniquely disruptive system of beliefs, fighting a war of morality and ideas against the legacy of Ra and the One God. Known and abhorred as tricksters, enticers, and liars, the clan has had a history of playing all sides in conflicts of the great sects. With their entry to the Camarilla rejected, some have joined the Anarch Movement and are now arming their twin weapons of temptation and subversion to bring spiritual liberation to all descendants of Caine. Toronto needs order. Perhaps it needs faith.

Secret Groups

There are two secret groups that will not be revealed until you choose them; both require something of a leap of faith. One group is tightly-knit and visiting with a specific purpose, while the other is a criminal group that has long lurked in the shadows. Both will provide an interesting evening!

Please email at info@fairescapestudios.com us if you have any questions about any of the groups or anything about character selection.
